Zoya embarked on her journey in healthcare after completing her Bachelor's in Physiotherapy in Delhi, India. During her under-graduation, she served as a Physiotherapist Internee at St. Stephen's Hospital, gaining exposure in various departments, including Outpatient Physiotherapy, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Cardiothoracic surgery, General wards, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. During this time, Zoya demonstrated her commitment to diverse patient populations and comprehensive healthcare. Building on her foundational experiences, Zoya continued her professional growth as a Physiotherapist in New Delhi. There, she not only restored function for patients and prevented disabilities but also excelled in customizing Physiotherapy techniques to address individual needs. Zoya's responsibilities included diagnostic and prognostic exams, treatment planning, patient education, and ensuring the correct usage of equipment and exercise routines.
Driven by a strong eagerness to expand her knowledge, Zoya pursued her Masters, earning an MSc in Neuro-Rehabilitation from the University of Manitoba in 2016. As a Research Scholar, she played a crucial role in projects like developing a computerized assessment tool for hand-arm function after stroke and evaluating a Game-Based Tele Rehabilitation Platform for Stroke patients.
Throughout her master's program, Zoya immersed herself in extensive research projects focusing on rehabilitation of Stroke, Vestibular, Brain injuries, Spinal cord injuries, and fall prevention programs for the elderly. The hands-on experience gained across these diverse client populations using cutting-edge techniques solidified her commitment to practicing evidence-based methods. Post-graduation, she continued her journey as a Physiotherapist in Winnipeg, specializing in treating outpatient orthopaedic and sports injuries, pre and post-natal cases, and neurological conditions. Zoya's commitment to education was underscored by her role as a Lecturer at Hua Xia College, Winnipeg. During this period, she shared her knowledge and insights with aspiring healthcare professionals, contributing to the academic and professional development of her students.
In her current role as a Physiotherapist at Riverbend Physiotherapy and Neuro-Rehab Clinic, Zoya manages a diverse caseload, frequently coordinating with healthcare professionals and insurance companies. Over the years, she has acquired certifications in IMS/Dry Needling and Acupuncture Therapies, incorporating these techniques alongside Shockwave Therapy into her treatments. Zoya's expertise extends to various conditions including Sports injuries, Arthritis, Pain management, MVAs, and pre and post-joint replacement cases are a few to list. Her particular interest in neurological conditions such as concussions, vestibular issues, stroke, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, and MS showcases the breadth of her expertise.
Fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu, Zoya provides physiotherapy services with cultural sensitivity and understanding. Beyond her professional life, she finds joy in staying active through workouts, expressing her creativity in cooking and painting, and seeking adventure through hiking, biking, and traveling.
